Science and the Old Testament

For anyone who’s ever sat in a science class and wondered how it fits with the scriptures—or questioned whether their faith could survive honest inquiry—Science and the Old Testament offers a refreshing and faithful perspective.

Latter-day Saint scientist Trent Dee Stephens, PhD, combines a lifetime of academic expertise with deep gospel conviction to examine the Bible’s most remarkable stories through a scientific lens. From the Creation and the Flood to ancient genetics and cosmology, Stephens explores how revelation and reason can coexist without compromise.

He doesn’t shy away from tough questions. Instead, he embraces them—showing how inspired prophets may have recorded divine truths filtered through their own understanding, culture, and time. You’ll come away with greater faith, not less, because you’ll see that both scripture and science point toward the same God.

In this book, you’ll discover:

How to navigate doubts about the Bible in light of modern science Why understanding context helps clarify what scripture is (and isn’t) trying to say What current science reveals about ancient events How spiritual belief can thrive alongside intellectual honesty

Science and the Old Testament is the bridge between the faith you love and the questions you've been asking.
