Au??erhalb der Physik widmete er sich auf ganz unterschiedlichen Feldern der Anwendung mathematischer Methoden; so stie?? er die Theorie der optimalen Besteuerung an und lieferte eine theoretische Analyse des englischen Golfhandicap-Systems.
