The Scope of Renaissance Humanism

These essays and studies were written over a period of nearly forty years. They are offered in a single collection because they are a coordinated series of investigations or expositions of the character and extent of Renaissance humanism. They are an effort to evaluate the historical importance of this movement both in the context of the Italian and Northern Renaissance and in the larger perspective of its place in the history of Western civilization.
