About this title

Synopsis

Miss Laurel was dying. It was inevitable. Her 30 years of daily chemical abuse had brought her to the brink of destruction. She lost her husband and now her son. She wanted to die. Yet, God had another plan as she came to understand that no human power can save me. Scourge gives an unprecedented, first-hand look into the harsh and gritty reality of addiction, a reality that is becoming increasingly common. Bradford Smith takes you there. He puts the needle in your hand, your finger on the trigger. Scourge is as informative as it is shocking. The heart-wrenching spiritual aspect of the struggle confronts the reader with a surprising choice. The stakes have never been higher. Brad Smith leads us on a journey through the lives of the scourged. He does so much more than chronicle the struggle. He draws you into their life where you will experience the frustration and hopelessness of the battle and the joy of victory found in Christ Jesus. Paul Scott, Community Impact Pastor, Hilldale Baptist Church Raw, gripping, hopeful…Brad Smith's Scourge immerses the reader in the agonizing effects of drug addiction and how to apply the one true cure, faith. – Colonel Heath Niemi, United States Army
