Scout (Paperback)

Paperback. They stamped his file FAILED. Then the dam began to crack. Scout flunked out of the police K-9 academy for one reason: he refuses commands. Nobody noticed that every time he refused, he was right. Now he's a shelter dog nobody wants - until stubborn eleven-year-old Lucy Alvarez picks the weird one, and an eighty-year-old dam above the city of Bell Harbor begins, quietly, to fail. When the flood comes on festival day, the city's fate falls to its strangest rescue team: a washed-out dog who hears what no one else can, the girl who believed him first, and the sergeant who never stopped believing in him. Inspired by the true feats of history's hero dogs - Frida, Togo, Barry, and the search dogs of 9/11 - with an afterword about the real rescues behind every chapter. For readers who love brave animals, edge-of-your-seat survival, and the underdogs nobody saw coming. This item is printed on demand.
