String tied scrapbook binding measuring 12 x 10", containing 32 ephemeral items pasted in or laid in loose, 75 pasted in and captioned photographs, two postcards laid in loose, and many pasted in newspaper clippings. A scrapbook compiled by Lieutenant Margaret Mounsey, a member of the Navy WAVES and native of San Pedro, California. The scrapbook contains neatly captioned photos and ephemeral items documenting her time at "boot" training at the naval training school in Cedar Falls, Iowa and at officer's school at Smith College in Massachusetts. There is also material related to her service as a Link trainer instructor at the Livermore, Ca and Atlanta, Ga naval air stations, as well as items from her time at the navy aerial gunnery school at Purcell, Oklahoma. Some examples of the ephemeral items include a mimeographed sheet of WAVES songs, a mimeographed WAVES theater program, the April 1943 issue of "IOWAVE" a magazine published at the Iowa Naval Training School, a 15 page mimeographed booklet titled "Serve Your Country In Your Country Join The Waves", dinner and graduation programs, a 43 pp WAVES song book titled "Marching to Victory", printed documents related to Mounsey's enlistment and service, church programs, and more. The section of photographs depicts Mounsey's time in Iowa, Georgia, Massachusetts, and Oklahoma, including pictures of WAVES in uniforms, Mounsey's Oklahoma host family, a visit to a local ranch, Mounsey's time on leave, a photo of Mounsey in her first uniform (captioned "First Uniform Some Thrill") and more. Toning to album leaves, slight chipping to leaves along fore-edge, yellowing to covers, first album leaf detached.
