About this title

Synopsis

A Scriptural Illustration Of The Twenty-Sixth And Twenty-Seventh Verses Of The First Chapter Of Genesis, Or, The Purpose Of Christ's Incarnation Declard Before The Creation Of The First Adam. Addressed To Man, by a Layman Of The Established Church describes a theological treatise that analyzes Genesis 1:26-27 and the doctrine of the Word becoming flesh. The author argues that the plural language Let us make man signals the Trinity, and that the Word existed with God and was God from eternity. The work asserts that the Word became flesh prior to the creation of Adam as the means to reveal both the divine and human natures in one Christ. It discusses the nature of image and likeness, the Holy Spirit, and the seed of the woman, tying together Old and New Testament prophecies to present a Christ-centered account of creation, fall, and redemption through Christ. It also treats Noah, Abel, Cain, and the deluge as typological prefigurations of salvation.
