Scriptural And Statistical Views In Favor Of Slavery

""Scriptural and Statistical Views in Favor of Slavery"" is a book written by Thornton Stringfellow, a Baptist minister and slave owner in Virginia in the mid-19th century. The book presents a defense of slavery from both a biblical and statistical perspective. Stringfellow argues that slavery is not only morally justifiable but also necessary for the economic and social stability of the South. In the book, Stringfellow cites numerous passages from the Bible to support his argument that slavery is not a sin but rather a God-ordained institution. He also presents statistical data to show that slaves are better off than free laborers in the North, and that the Southern economy is dependent on the institution of slavery. The book was published in 1856, just a few years before the outbreak of the Civil War, and reflects the attitudes and beliefs of many Southerners at the time. Despite its controversial subject matter, ""Scriptural and Statistical Views in Favor of Slavery"" was widely read and influential in the South, and remains a significant historical document of the era. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
