Brought to you by Scripture Central, this commentary aims to make the Doctrine and Covenants and Church History more accessible, comprehensible, and defensible to people everywhere. It draws on the latest scholarship and research in Church history, including groundbreaking work from the Joseph Smith Papers project. Each section of the Doctrine and Covenants is presented in clear historical context, drawing directly from primary sources. The complete text is placed side-by-side with insightful commentary designed to increase your understanding and enlighten your mind concerning these sacred revelations.
Volume 3 covers the events and revelations tied to some of the most glorious and heartbreaking events of the Restoration. Revelations during this time outline and nature and promises of the sacred priesthood of God, with insights into the power and governance of the universe. The nature of Jesus Christ and God the Father are explored in other revelations, taking seekers from the earliest origins of all things to the furthest realms of possibility. The revelations received during this time also cover the horrible persecutions faced by the Saints in Missouri and other places, and the Lord’s words of comfort to His suffering people. It also covers the revelations setting up the governance of the Church, including the calling of the First Presidency, the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and the most important foundations of the Church.
Volume 3 contains the complete text of Doctrine and Covenants 77–107 with verse-by-verse commentary.
