A Scripture Help : Designed to Assist in Reading the Bible, Profitably: Volume 14

A Scripture Help : Designed To Assist In Reading The Bible, Profitably by Edward Henry Bickersteth presents a 19th?century Anglican tract that warns Christians about end?time dangers and the need for sustained biblical faith. Drawing on the Book of Revelation, the author analyzes the sixth vial’s signs as applicable to his own era, including a revival of Romish principles, rising infidelity, and increasing lawlessness. He exhorts true Christians toward unity, prayer, and practical action—mission, Bible distribution, and church extension—as signs of a living gospel. The work contrasts the Mystery of Godliness with the Mystery of Iniquity, defends a Protestant interpretation of Babylon as Rome, and urges readiness for the imminent return of Christ. Throughout, the text blends eschatology, ecclesiology, and social critique to urge steadfast faith, holiness, and love as the Church awaits God’s final kingdom.
