A Scripture Help : Designed to Assist in Reading the Bible, Profitably

A Scripture Help : Designed To Assist In Reading The Bible, Profitably by Edward Henry Bickersteth. This work is a devotional and instructional manual aimed at helping readers study the Bible profitably. It begins with a Preface that defends the authority, sufficiency, and clarity of Scripture, and it proceeds through sections on the value of the Bible, the evidences of its truth and inspiration, the integrity of the canon, and the translations into English. It emphasizes the importance of habitual daily study, the necessity of divine assistance to understand sacred texts, and the practical benefits of Scripture for personal growth and spiritual happiness. The book offers practical rules for daily study, Scripture prayers, and general reflections on the whole Bible, along with an overview of the books of Scripture, explanations of Jewish state and ritual, and discussions of prophecy, the law, and the gospel. It also includes calendars, charts, and appendices to aid devotional reading and scholarly study.
