This mid-19th century illustrated work by Alexander Fletcher presents an organized sequence of Old Testament narratives, published in London by Virtue and Co. circa 1850. The content progresses from Genesis and the Creation through to the account of David and Goliath, with each section matched to biblical citations and approximate chronological placement. Forty engraved plates portray scenes such as the Creation, Noah?s Ark, Joshua at Jericho, Abraham and Isaac with the ram, the death of Samson, Ruth and Naomi, and David confronting Goliath. The sextodecimo format made the book portable and suited to personal or instructional use. Very Good condition, bound in leather spine and corners with marbled boards, showing mild rubbing to edges, with a secure binding and clean contents. Format: Sextodecimo (16mo), single volume.
