The Sea-Wolf

The Sea-Wolf is an 1834 romance set on the English coast. On Shelwell's shore a band of smugglers led by Falconer pursues wealth and power, while Maria Woodville and her fiancé Herbert become entangled in peril, courage, and enduring love. The story follows Falconer's daring rescues of shipwrecked crews, his clashes with the Prophet of Wolf's Tower, and his rise to leadership among a ruthless band who thrive on "free trade." Amid storms, beacon towers, and a raging sea, the narrative shifts between martial action and romantic longing as Maria's steadfast loyalty and Herbert's principled defense challenge Falconer's wild vow to triumph at any cost. A dramatic arc of loyalty, betrayal, revenge, and redemption unfolds through sea battles, mutinies, and a final encounter on a burning vessel that tests the limits of courage and humanity.
