About the Author: Gerald L. Carr is a Visiting Scholar at the University of Delaware (Department of Art History), and Consulting Art Historian for Berry-Hill Galleries, New York. He has been researching, writing about, and speaking on Frederic Edwin Church for twenty years. Carr has published widely on Church, Albert Bierstadt, Thomas Cole, and other painters; he has curated several Church exhibitions; and he has served as a Church consultant for Sotheby's, Christie's, and many galleries. Carr's own photographs have been exhibited at Olana, Church's country home in upstate New York.
