THE SECOND EVANGELICAL AWAKENING - Popular Abridged Edition
The appearance of Dr. Orr's book on the religious revival which began in 1857 and swept through the U.S.A. and Great Britain was greeted with enthusiasm on both sides of the Atlantic.
As an authenticated and well documented account of events which played so great a part in the destiny of the American and British people it has become an essential book for the student of modern Church history.
This edition has been revised and edited and contains most of the material in the earlier work without footnotes, etc. It is presented as an eminently readable story--"lively, well spiced with illustration" and of absorbing interest throughout.
What the Press says:
"Dr. Orr has put the whole Church in his debt by bringing before us the fact that all of what was best for men and of abiding value in the happenings of that period was the gift of the Holy Spirit, and the use of which He made of men and women who yielded to His guidance and direction."
--Church of England Newspaper
"The total impact of the evidence is tremendous"
--The Expository Times
"Dr. Orr's book will be read by all who seek and work for revival."
--Sunday Companion
