Add to basketHardcover, green cloth binding which mimics the original Century edition of 'The Jungle Book" but with animals stamped in black instead of gold. Lettered in gold on front cover and spine. Spine heavily blind-stamped with four small animal figures stamped in black, interspersed by title, author and publisher in gold, while covers show larger black elephant on front and tiger on rear, both within elaborate blind-stamped frame. Top edge gilt. 324 pages. Illustrated with vignette drawings and decorations by author's father, John Lockwood Kipling. Reprint edition. "The Second Jungle Book is a sequel to The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling. First published in 1895, it features five stories about Mowgli and three unrelated stories, all but one set in India, most of which Kipling wrote while living in Vermont. All of the stories were previously published in magazines in 1894?5, often under different titles." [Wikipedia] Previous owner's armorial style book-plate onside front cover along with very small bookseller's label. Evidence of label removed from front free end-paper in the form of light brown horizontal mark. a clean, tight, fresh and unmarked copy with several small spots to rear a cover. Very good.
