Add to basketThis is an antique copy of "THE SECOND JUNGLE BOOK" by Rudyard Kipling. 1915; The Century Co.; New York. The book features illustrations throughout by John Lockwood Kipling (Rudyard's father). A sequel to "The Jungle Book," "The Second Jungle Book" consists of eight stories, each followed by a related poem, primarily expanding on the life of Mowgli, the boy raised by wolves. The contents are as follows: How Fear Came; The Law of the Jungle; The Miracle of Purun Bhagat; A Song of Kabir; Letting in the Jungle; Mowgli's Song Against People; The Undertakers; A Ripple-Song; The King's Ankus; The Song of the Little Hunter; Quiquern; "Angutivun Tina"; Red Dog; Chil's Song; The Spring Running; The Outsong. Condition: The front cover has a tiny, light stain spot below the elephant's tail; clean back cover and spine. Bright gilt lettering on the front cover and spine. Sharp cover corners. There is a minor crack at the front hinge between the bibliography page and the half title page resulting in the front cover being just a bit shaky. The back cover is firmly attached. Nice interior - the pages are mostly clean with only an occasional random, light smudge found here and there; pages 47 & 48 each have a small, light pink-ish stain at the upper-outer corner; staining on pages 68-75. Page 1 has a small tear at the outer edge. Page 11 has a 1" tear at the outer edge. Name written in pencil (with one letter in ink) on the front pastedown. Overall the book is in Very Good- condition.
