Add to basketThis is a handsome, vintage copy of "The Second Jungle Book" by RUDYARD KIPLING. 1928; Doubleday, Page & Company; New York. This edition is nicely bound in full leather with gilt lettering and decorations on the front cover and spine, and gilt top page edges. The book features illustrations by John Lockwood Kipling, Rudyard's father. The book is a collection of short fables and poems that serves as the direct sequel to Kipling's famous work, "The Jungle Book." It features eight stories, five of which continue the adventures of Mowgli - the boy raised by wolves - while the remaining three are standalone tales set in different environments. The stories explore themes of law, loyalty, and the balance between humanity and nature.
Condition:
Clean covers and spine. Bits of the leather have chipped away at the top and bottom edges of the spine. Bright gilt lettering and decorations on the front cover and spine. Bright gilt top page edges. There is a crack at the front hinge between the end paper and half title page resulting in the end paper being a bit shaky. Both covers are firmly attached. Nice interior - the text pages are lightly age-toned and clean with no notable issues found. Overall the book is in Very Good- condition.
