The theme of this collaboration between a psychotherapist and a financial planner is that "grief and money mangement proceed hand in hand" and that "the two processes provide a good balance for recovery." Thus most chapters begin with advice on managing the emotions of widowhood and then continue with money-managing counsel on such matters as budgets, wills, insurance, storing financial papers, and getting a "professional support team." Chapter-ending "Action Checklists" are included to monitor compliance with the various bits of psychological and financial advice. Most coverage is at a very elementary level, and the tone is often that of a mother teaching a rather young child. Neither grief recovery nor finances are likely to be much helped.
