For the first time the former head of Cuban State Security speaks out about the confrontation with U.S. intelligence and presents stunning new evidence of the conspiracy between the Mafia, the Cuban counterrevolution and the CIA.
Fabian Escalante details the CIA's operations in the early years of the Cuban revolution, the largest-ever covert action launched against another nation: Peter Pan, a psychological war that uprooted thousands of children; and Operations 40, Patty, Liborio and Pluto. Agents from both sides describe a scene of espionage, sabotage, assassination plots, guerrilla warfare and plans for military invasion.
The secret war is a thorough account of the massive Operation Mongoose, showing how the United States was engineering a major invasion of Cuba for October 1962, prior to the arrival of the Soviet missiles on the island.
