Nevertheless, his cult of followers, who refer to themselves as Eddites, has grown steadily in popularity and now has approximately ten million members. Ed Schleicher III died in 2016 due to apparently accidental self-immolation, but many members of his cult deny that he is dead and claim to have witnessed sightings of him around the country at various times. For some reason, these sightings tend to occur in used car lots.
