About this Item
This G quality book was published by McLoughlin Brothers, Inc., of Springfield, Massachusetts; there is no copyright date, though the series, with different titles, was published by Milton Bradley in the 1920-1924 period; if it was issued with a jacket, which is highly unlikely, there is no jacket now. It is 7-1/2" x 5-1/4", with 254 numbered pages. It is, essentially, a large "Big Little" book, with very thin boards, flat cardboard spine, and very acidic paper. The book has a slight lean and is reasonably clean. It has four lightly bumped corners and no edge dings, though the bottom edges have some wear. The spine is reasonably intact (see photo), though there is a 1/2" tear at the lower front gutter, bumped spine ends, and a darker stain at the top that looks like a water stain but which has not affected the text pages. There is another, much darker stain covering nearly half of the bottom edge of the pages but the liquid penetrated less than 1/4" into the paper. The interior is clean and completely free of writing, stray marks and stains. The paper is very acidic and has browned up significantly, but is still has some flexibility. When shelving this book, put several quarters beneath the fore edge to take tension off the top of the spine.
