Synopsis
"If we seek for it, we will have it." — Dwight L. Moody
No Classics library is complete without the work from the pen of Dwight L. Moody (1881). Moody's Secret Power towers as a Classic among Classics: not only lush with the beauty of eloquence, but simple and applicable to every Christian's life. Here are the instructions for tapping into the power of God so that you can live as richly, deeply, and fully as God intends.
"One may have "zeal without knowledge," while another may have knowledge without zeal. If I could have only the one, I believe I should choose the first; but with an open Bible, no one need be without knowledge of God's will and purpose. The object of this book is to help others to know the source of true power, that both their zeal and their knowledge may be a of increased service in the Master's work." — Dwight L. Moody
Moody believed that the "Secret Power" — the power of the Holy Spirit—had been too much overlooked, as though it were not practical. He wrote, "The result is lack of power in testimony and work. If we would work, 'not as one that beateth the air,' but to some definite purpose, we must have this power from on high. Without this power, our work will be drudgery. With it, it becomes a joyful task, a refreshing service. May God make this book a blessing to many. This is my prayer."
About the Author
Dwight Lyman Moody (1837-1899) began life as one of seven children in a poor New England family. At 17, his dynamic personality and affinity for sales led him to become a successful Boston shoe salesman, but his ambitions were transformed into a yearning for Christ under the kind and loving instruction of Edward Kimball. It wasn't long before Moody's passion for lost souls took hold of his heart and led him to embrace God's call to the ministry. His life and ministry were constant invitations for sinners to come to Christ. He saw every person as a potential child of the King and a possible moment from eternity--powered by the Holy Spirit, this was the driving force behind Moody becoming one of the most influential evangelists and revivalists the world has ever known. Empowered by his love for lost souls and a zeal for God's Word, he led dynamic meetings in America and Great Britain and founded Moody Bible Institute. D. L. Moody left an enduring legacy that includes three Christian schools, a Christian publishing business, and a millions of souls won for Christ.
