About this title

From Library Journal:

According to professor/therapist Tower, one-third to one-half of the adult population were sexually molested as children. It's these individuals she addresses, blending their actual words (from interviews) with strong expository material. Though she covers such topics as emotional baggage, self-defeating cycles, the psyche of the perpetrator, and consequences for victims' own children, she emphasizes psychological counseling as the cure to trusting others again, clearly defining how each therapeutic mode (e.g., dance, Gestalt) works. A state-by-state appendix lists related support organizations. Despite extensive media coverage of this topic, Books in Print lists nothing geared to adult victims. Highly recommended for most collections. Janice Arenofsky, formerly with Arizona State Lib., Phoenix
