About this title

Synopsis:

A young man of promise is cut down in his prime. He enters the Army before WW II begins and dies in a POW camp in Japan. His father applies for the War Risk Life Insurance benefits and is told he doesn't qualify. In honor of his dead son, he pursues the insurance claim and prevails after ten years of red tape and the involvement of senators, congressmen and even President Truman. This true story will give you an understanding of what average citizens went through before, during and after WW II.

About the Author:

The author holds Bachelors and Masters degrees from San José State University and is a retired school administrator with forty years of service to the public schools of Vacaville, California. He has meticulously pieced together this true story from letters, interviews, books and a trip, with Death March survivors, to the scenes of the action in the Philippine Islands. Other works include a musical based on the daily life of a school principal, the history of Grace Episcopal Church in Fairfield, California, the history of Suisun Lodge No. 55 F&AM, and the history of the Sheldon Family in Suisun, California.
