Secrets of Deep Tissue Course Manual

Secrets of Deep Tissue™: Advanced Treatment Techniques for Lasting Pain Relief

Secrets of Deep Tissue™ is a dynamic, results-driven manual designed to elevate the skills of both new and seasoned massage therapists. This comprehensive guide teaches how to achieve fast, effective, and long-lasting pain relief for clients through advanced deep tissue techniques—developed, tested, and refined over more than two decades of clinical and classroom success.

Since 2001, this course has been taught to thousands of therapists across the country, with content expanded by over 30% to reflect the most current and clinically effective methods. These techniques have been applied successfully to hundreds of thousands of clients—both by the author and by students who have incorporated them into their practices with measurable results.

The manual also includes integrated training in intraoral treatment for TMJD (Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction), once taught as a separate course. These methods now form a complete and unified approach to treating muscular and postural dysfunctions that often manifest as head, neck, and jaw pain. This advanced material was influenced by early participation in shaping Washington State’s intraoral massage legislation, ensuring practical, efficient instruction without unnecessary barriers to learning.

Beyond the techniques themselves, the manual emphasizes what truly sets an expert apart: the application. Like two chefs using the same ingredients yet producing different results, a therapist’s outcomes are shaped by how intensity, duration, and frequency are combined during treatment.

Topics covered include:

• Deep tissue protocol for structural imbalances
• Intraoral treatment for TMJD
• Postural correction strategies
• Shin splints and plantar fasciitis
• Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis)
• Techniques to improve range of motion and functional recovery
• Practical approaches to client pain management

Whether for continuing education or skill advancement, Secrets of Deep Tissue™ is more than a training—it’s a transformational approach to bodywork that will forever change how therapists view the healing potential of their hands.

This course is approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB).
