About the Author

Alan Hafer has a doctorate in education from the University of Colorado. In addition to being a former school superintendent, Hafer served as Executive Director of Historic Boulder, a non-profit dedicated to historical preservation. He has been a legislative liaison, an assistant principal and has taught American History and Educational Administrative courses at the university level.

Now working as a full-time writer, his book Prisoners of the Paradigm, a non-fiction book about educational reform, was published in 2000. He also wrote a monthly column for the journal, Inside Education. A former member and national number holder of the National Ski Patrol System, Hafer is the father of three and lives with his wife in Superior, Colorado.
