Come And See

This is a Lenten resource that is thorough in scope and in detail. It offers a stimulating exploration of Christian living in today's world and extends a provocative invitation to Christian discipleship. Tested in the congregation served by the authors, the contents are easily adapted to other parishes. All the material in this volume is pastorally, theologically and exegetically sound.

As a Cycle C Lenten-based resource, Come And See provides many opportunities for congregations.

It offers a pre-Lenten Mission Fair, which may be held during the second Sunday of Epiphany. The Fair is an invitation to deeper discipleship during Lent.

It offers mid-week Lenten programs. These are playlets and inductive Bible studies. Each playlet has parts for three adults. Each Bible study follows scriptures from Mark with helpful study questions. Playlets and Bible studies focus on evangelism worship, education, social concerns and stewardship.

It offers six sermons to be used for Ash Wednesday and the five Sundays of Lent.

Authors Randolph W. Barr and Anne-Rose Reeves are pastors of St. Timothy Evangelical Lutheran Church, Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. Both are graduates of Gettysburg Lutheran Seminary. Dr. Barr also holds a doctorate from Drew University.
