This book is a collection of poems and artwork from young students in the New York area and a touching memoir of the tragic events of September 11, 2001. Even through that terrible tragedy, those children cling to the hope for a world where all can live in peace and harmony. Our young authors and artists invite us to see the tragedy through their eyes, and they show that love, peace, freedom, hope, friendship, respect and understanding have survived the confusion and pain of September 11. The authors are donating a portion of the proceeds from the Seeds of Hope to The Fresh Air Fund.

About the Author

Monica Westin is the founder of the non-profit World of Hope International, Inc. WOHI is dedicated to supporting and encouraging the rights of young people throughout the world with programs promoting tolerance, non-violence and health awareness. Presently WOHI has a project in a village north of Accra, Ghana. In addition, Ms. Westin, a registered nurse in her native Sweden, has been involved in the development of educational programs and materials on reproductive health, as well as HIV/AIDS awareness projects in the region of Sub-Saharan Africa. After 9/11, with her dedication to children, Ms. Westin started to work on a book project for the benefit of children affected by the tragedy. Understanding the importance of self-expression in dealing with emotional pain, she started to collect poems and artwork from young people in the New York area. Seeds of Hope is the showcase of that collection.
