Seeds and Sheaves: Or, Words of Scripture; Their History and Fruits

Seeds And Sheaves: Or, Words Of Scripture; Their History And Fruits by Augustus Charles Thompson is a devotional miscellany that gathers biographical sketches and anecdotes illustrating how Scripture, and especially memorable phrases, have guided individual lives and shaped Christian practice. The book opens with an Introduction arguing that the 'lively oracles' are touchstones of character and weapons against sin, and proceeds through thematic sections like The First Theme, The Prime Petition, The Outset, and The Psalms by Heart. It collects stories of martyrs, missionaries, poets, and common folk whose faith centers on biblical texts—Behold the Lamb of God, I know that my Redeemer liveth, and the publican's prayer, God be merciful to me a sinner. The volume serves as an experiential commentary, tracing the fruits of Scripture across centuries, inviting readers to meditate on the Word's personal relevance.
