Item description from seller

London, Austin Motor Co., [early 1930s]. B./w. frontsipiece, num. b./w. text-ills / plts (views, maps, etc.) & on the endpapers two b./w. maps showing Great Britain. Orig. hardcover (gilt lettered blue paper over boards). 12mo. - Complete with the rare original cardboard box with the original paper illustration mounted on the cover. - Added are four sheets in a cover containing a route description (copy of typed description) of a 57 mile trip from Ruislip to Witham.Compiled on behalf of the Austin Motor Company by Ed. J. Burrow & Co. Ltd. - Text in English. - As more and more people invested in private cars for the first time in the 1920s and 1930s, interest in destinations within a comfortable day's drive also increased. Adventurers planned driving holidays that covered much of the United Kingdom, or long road trips to distant lands that required a basic command of a foreign language. With this in mind, Austin's marketing team conceived this edition.
