About this Item
A beautiful copy of James Merigot's illustrated work on Rome. Complete with 61 aquatint plates. Undated, all except plate 20 are watermarked 1817. With plate 20 'Pyramid of Caius Cestius' watermarked 1815. The text is watermarked 1816. Dated from Abbey 178.This work was first published in two parts in 1797 and 1799 respectively. In a half calf binding. Externally, very smart. Imperceptibly rebacked, with the original boards preserved and the spine laid down. Light shelf-wear to the boards and spine. Binder's label and former owner's name label to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. Just the occasional light spots. Very Good Indeed. Seller Inventory # 785L13
