3rd edition, stated. 5 volume set, complete. A Very Good + set. 8vos, each volume approximately 350 pages. Illustrated with an engraved frontispiece. Uniformly bound in half brown leather and marbled paper boards, with title on spine in gilt. t.e.g. Light wear to edges, mostly at the bottom edges of the boards. Light rubbing to the boards. All volumes have the same previous owner's book plate on the front paste down. Hinges strong, internally clean and tight. A handsome set. Henry Fielding (1707-1754) was an English writer and judge known for the use of humor and satire in his works. His 1749 comic novel The History of Tom Jones, a Foundling was a seminal work in the genre. Along with Samuel Richardson, Fielding is seen as the founder of the traditional English novel.
