Pagination of prelims is very irregular. Frontispiece portrait to vol. 1. Heavy browning to early and late pages of all volumes and to page edges, and sporadic foxing. Each title-page has owner's name in a 19th-century hand scrawled across it, and a small blue stamp from a previous owner. Text blocks are sound, but hinges are generally weak. Binding is quarter calf over marbled boards, all volumes showing some signs of splitting at spines, and pieces of spine missing from four volumes. A worn set but adequate for reading.
