Very good book in gilt bordered half black leather with textured boards; gilt titles to spine; edge rubs; small repaired nicks to spine ends. Internally very good and free of inscriptions; 'Introductory Essay' by James Montgomery and 'A Life of the Author' by Rev Thomas Scott; very well illustrated with chromolithographs and wood engravings; each page has a coloured, ornate border; binding tight; some foxing to early and latter pages and to plate surrounds but little elsewhere; all edges gilt; 803pp.
