Synopsis
Reviews the current state of research into redox-activated compounds, particularly bioreductive drugs, and their applications in various fields of medicine as both diagnostic and therapeutic agents. Among the topics considered are the oxygen effects of biological processes; the nature and function of redox proteins, particularly those involved in drug activation; the bioactivation of drugs used as sensitizers in radiation oncology; anti-bacterial agents; non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs; and various clinical applications of chemical modifiers.
