Sense and Nonsense. Innocence Revisited with Experience.: A Retelling.

‘Sense and Nonsense: Innocence Revisited with Experience. A Retelling’ is a quirky and humorous take on some famous works from ‘Panchtantra’, ‘Aesop’s Fables’, ‘Fairy Tales’, ‘Arabian Nights’ and ‘Nursery Rhymes.’ In the tradition of spoofs and doggerels, and inspired by the puns and twists of the famous rhymes of Ogden Nash and Roald Dahl, and also Vikram Seth in ‘Beastly Tales’, this book is an attempt at a lighthearted spin on the popular and familiar stories.

Viewed in the modern context , there can be new interpretations to these literary masterpieces. Some like the nursery rhymes have always belonged to the genre of spoofs and lampoons with political, social and historical overtones. They can be adapted to the present realities perfectly, proving human truth is universal.

The light hearted spinoffs in this book are divided in four sections and are accompanied by an analysis and explanation of the background of that particular class of popular literature. A living work of creative art is always flexible, and can be viewed with new insights, and with new meanings.

I hope the readers enjoy the mock serious take on some enduring classics.
