Paper spined boards, VG. 275pp+8pp publishers catalogue, original paper spine splitting at the head with a little loss, both hinges cracked & but firm, corners worn, pages untrimmed, with occasional light foxing. Booksellers ticket of Smith & Co, Hunter Square Edinburgh on the pastedown, old ownership signature of J Borthwick on the title. A series of lectures on the relationship between Christian belief and astronomy & newtonian physics as understood in the early 19th century. The book was exceedingly popular as were the sermons Chalmers had given upon which the book was based. 450 grams.
