A Series of Discourses on the Peculiar Doctrines of Revelations

A Series Of Discourses On The Peculiar Doctrines Of Revelations by David Savile is a collection of sermon-length expositions on foundational Christian truths. Drawing on Genesis, Romans, and other biblical sources, Savile traces the primeval state of humanity in innocence, the Fall, and the subsequent corruption of nature. He then surveys the nature and transgression of the divine law, the wages of sin—death—and the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. The sequence moves through the person and works of Christ, His sufferings, death, and resurrection, and the atonement, before turning to salvation obtainable only through faith in Him, the Lord’s Supper, and the grace of God. Throughout, the author emphasizes human depravity, the necessity of holiness, and the sufficiency of Christ for reconciliation with God. The sermons exhort repentance, faith, and perseverance, aiming to cultivate gratitude, hope, and spiritual resilience in believers, and to illuminate the heavenly destiny promised to the faithful. The work is a densely argued, biblically grounded, Reformed devotional treatise for instruction and edification.
