Patriotism through a biblical lens: how civil government serves as God’s order
This historical sermon argues that true loyalty is shown not by loud speeches alone, but by ready support for the government’s lawful acts. It frames civil authority as a divine ordinance and invites readers to view duty to the state as a duty to God, especially in times of crisis. The author distinguishes rebellion from legitimate governance, urging readers to see the fight surrounding the nation as a test of character, faith, and family.
The work examines what it means to render unto Caesar—how citizens should respond with goodwill, prayer, and steadfastness when government calls for sacrifice. It emphasizes gratitude for national ideals, from liberty to the protection of families, and it calls readers to uphold the flag as a symbol of a republic with a divine purpose. The argument blends theology, patriotism, and civic duty to address a difficult, historical moment without shying away from stirring questions about allegiance and obedience.
- How the book frames government as a divine responsibility and a key to national stability
- The distinction it makes between war as a concept and the rebellion described in a time of crisis
- Practical guidance on supporting the government, praying for its success, and avoiding political rancor
- The role of family and personal sacrifice in the duty of citizenship
Ideal for readers interested in historical religious perspectives on patriotism, duty, and the ethics of civil obedience during turbulent times.

Store description
We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first visit or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book.
