Serving from the Heart is an 8-week study resource for small groups, designed to –
- Inspire a desire among laity to volunteer for active service
- Help members uncover their talents, interests, and personality traits appropriate for a ministry
- Connect Christians to the fulfilling ministries they are best suited for
This 4 to 8 week study leads adults through assessing their spiritual gifts, talents and abilities, resources, individual style, dreams and experiences…all adding up to an enhanced capacity to serve God and neighbor.

Leader's Kit
The leader kit includes a book with easy to follow lesson plans for eight 45-minute sessions or four 2-hour sessions.
In addition, the included CD-ROM makes your leadership role convenient and creative with overhead slides, posters, music, and session leader training video, produced by the ministry staff at the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection.

Yvonne Gentile is Director of Connections at The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection. Before joining the church staff in 2011, she worked in the corporate world and used her passion for equipping and developing emerging leaders on COR's Spiritual Gifts Team, Leadership Development Team, and Committee on Lay Leadership. Yvonne is co-author of
Serving from the Heart,
Leadership from the Heart,
Leadership Essentials, and
Serving from the Heart for Youth. She has led workshops relating to equipping ministries on both the local and national level.
Yvonne and her husband Frank live in Overland Park, Kansas, and have a son and a daughter.
Carol Cartmill is Executive Director of Adult Discipleship at The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection. In this role, she applies her passion for equipping people for ministry, practical experience from working in the local church, and an educational background in organizational management and leadership. She launched the spiritual gifts development program at COR in 1998. She and her husband Jim have raised two daughters and reside in Overland Park, Kansas. Carol is the co-author of
