Shadow of the Condor

The body of an Air Force under-cover agent based in Europe has mysteriously turned up at a Montana missile site. The CIA's job is to find out what led the agent there and who killed him. In an effort to divert attention from themselves, the Agency sends Ronald Malcolm to Montana in a blatantly false disguise. Code-named Condor, Malcolm is regarded by the old man who is his liaison to the powerful Forty Committee as 'a little fledgling we are going to turn into a very good hunting bird'. He is lured from his life of paid inaction to act as a decoy while his elders and presumed betters pursue the real villains. But what neither they nor Condor.
