The Shadow Rises

The book that launched the internationally bestselling Witch-Hunter series — a gripping urban fantasy of dark magic, ancient duty, and impossible attraction.

Hunter Astley has one purpose in life: to hunt witches.
Charming, wealthy, and ruthlessly effective, Hunter is the product of a long line of witch-hunters — bound to the Malleus Maleficarum Council, dedicated to keeping the world safe from those who wield dark magic. It's a life he knows well. A life he controls.
But something is stirring in the shadows. A new and terrifying power is rising — the Shadow Witch — unlike anything the Council has ever faced. She is gathering the witches, building an army, and no one knows where she will strike next.
When a young woman named Sophie comes into Hunter's world, he lets his guard down for the first time in years. But in the war between witch-hunters and witches, nothing is as it seems — and the greatest threat may already be closer than Hunter ever imagined. As ancient magic awakens and dark forces converge on the English countryside, Hunter will discover that his bloodline holds secrets that could change everything — and that the line between enemy and ally is far more dangerous than he ever believed.

The Shadow Rises is the first book in K.S. Marsden's internationally bestselling Witch-Hunter series — a fast-paced, darkly romantic urban fantasy perfect for fans of the supernatural, slow-burn tension, and worlds where magic and the modern collide.
