In the Shadow of the Rocking Chair

In the Shadow of the Rocking Chair is the true story of a young girl's quest for love and happiness that spans almost a lifetime. Beginning in the 1930s, a temperamental father and an emotionally distraught mother collide. Six children, hardly surviving an uncommon childhood, are left at the doorstep of their elderly, maternal grandparents. Grandma Mollie is a natural-born storyteller. Grandpa Alf is a sometimes cantankerous alcoholic. A variety of problems are covered: shyness, boys, puppy love, poverty, alcoholism, divorce, mental illness, rape, abandonment, siblings, tobacco, bullying, that important first kiss, betrayal, love vs. power, a true love, and reconciliation. These pages invite you to remember not only the tragedies of youth but to treasure the days filled with sunshine and laughter. Despite all the evil that the world can throw at one little girl, she finds so many reasons to go on. Here is a story that crosses generations. It begged to be written.
