Shadows of My Enemy: The Samuel Clayton Files

Earth science teacher Sam Clayton has perfected the art of living separate lives. To his students in Plattsburgh, New York, he's a dedicated educator with a passion for environmental truth. To his wife Danielle and their four gifted children, he's a devoted family man with an uncanny talent for noticing details others miss.

But Sam has a third life, hidden from those he loves most—as an intelligence operative tracking a dangerous global conspiracy manipulating climate data to control the world's most precious resources.

When Sam's father Carmichael dies, leaving behind encrypted messages and ominous warnings, the walls between Sam's compartmentalized worlds begin to crumble. The shadow organization known only as "The Consortium" has set its sights on Sam's family, recognizing in his children the same unique cognitive abilities that made Sam valuable to intelligence agencies decades ago.

From the frigid shores of Lake Champlain to the ancient canals of Venice, from the Caribbean's turquoise waters to the volcanic ruins of Pompeii, Sam and Danielle must unravel a conspiracy spanning generations while protecting their children from forces that would exploit their remarkable talents.

As layers of deception peel away, Sam discovers his entire life—his recruitment, his marriage, even his children's natural abilities—may have been orchestrated as part of his father's grand design. Now, the family must use their combined skills to expose the truth before the Consortium rewrites climate history itself.

Some talents are inherited. Some enemies are invisible. And some wars are fought between the notes of a forgotten melody.
