The Shadows of My Hair

The Shadows of My Hair follows the short lived life of Tia McArthur. After being traumatized Tia suffers from post traumatic stress disorder which triggers her schizophrenia. Tia finds herself in two realities; the one her friends and family know and the one resulting from her psychosis. In a world where all her dreams are achievable Tia will find herself sinking deeper into her mind. As time elapses Tia becomes unable to distinguish between her reality and ours and before long the schizophrenic aspects of her disorder grow more predominant than her sanity. Tia will be forced to her breaking point where a life changing decision must be made.

Amanda grew up in Burlington, Ontario. A dynamic child Amanda started writing creatively during infancy. During her childhood, Amanda pursued the arts through many mediums. She spent several years acting , writing and exploring different art forms. Amanda went on to pursue acting in Toronto during high school where she studied at Etobicoke School of the Arts and majored as a Dramatic Arts student. During her time at E.S.A Amanda dabbled in musical theatre, directing and various forms of movement. During her third and fourth year, Amanda was one of twelve female students chosen to be the guests of The Women’s Executive Network to attend a breakfast where inspiring, strong, successful women working at heads of major companies would speak and network. During her final year at the arts high school, Amanda took a stab at directing and put her take on Morris Panych’s brilliant play 7 Stories. The show left audience members sitting in the aisles opening night, as the show had run out of seats. Before graduating in 2012 Amanda submitted the rough draft of her screenplay Tia (based off of The shadows of My Hair), which was recognized as being the third best nationally in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards that year. Recently Amanda has been attending University where she studies Psychology and awaits new inspiration for her next endeavour.
