The volume editor, John Wilders, is a Fellow of Worcester College, Oxford, a University Lecturer in English and a Governor of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. His publications include The Lost Garden: A View of Shakespeare's English and Roman History Plays (1978).

The extended plan of the Macmillan Casebook series embraces two categories of book.
