Shakespeare's Macbeth: with Annotations and Illustrations (Hardback or Cased Book)

This new edition of Macbeth includes helpful annotations, unique illustrations, and a commentary on the birds hidden in this fascinating play.

----
Macbeth is a tale of witches, deception, secrecy, and superstition. It is also a tale of loyalty, honor, relationships, and God. But of the many motifs of Macbeth, those revolving around nature and the supernatural are central. Some of these superstitions are hidden in the feathers of birds flitting throughout the play. Despite their number, they often remain unnoticed in the greater scope of the story. But they are not included as merely a background prop nor mentioned by happenstance, rather, the birds are often used to characterize a person or give meaning to a scene’s atmosphere. Yet to the modern reader, most of these birds mean little besides name, shape, and perhaps color if the reader is well-versed in bird species. Understanding them allows for understanding the underlying messages of the play. So, enjoy Shakespeare’s thrilling Macbeth and learn about the symbols, omens, and messages throughout this play.
