Bright royal blue boards with multiple stamped rulings around border of front and bright gilt lettering on spine. Top edges bright gilt. Multiple illustrations and plates with detailed engravings. DJ is Near Fine with original price of $6.50 in bottom corner of front flap and advertisements for "Other Interesting Sea Books" from Lauriat on the back cover of DJ. Only very minor blemish inside or out is the prior owners attractive small book plate. LIMITED to 300 copies. This is a very scarce version that Lauriat did without the Ship Model Society of Rhode Island, a reprint of 1808 1st London edition, with appendix from the 1819 2nd London edition. Subtitled: A key to the leading of rigging, and to practical seamanship. A knowledgeable and comprehensive manual by Darcy Lever designed to assist young gentlemen of the Royal Navy from the early 19th century. Bound by Robert Burlen & Son, Boston.
