[Sheet Music]: You're Always Messin' Round With My Man: (A Blue Flame) [and] [Shellac Record]: My Pillow and Me b/w Black Man

Sheet music. Quarto. Single bifolium with a single-sheet-insert making six pages. Separated along the fold but both leaves are present, rubbing to the exterior (with some of the color bleeding through to the interior), owner name on the front cover, and minor edgewear and soiling, complete but just a good or better copy. For voice and piano. Plate imprint, "You're always Messin' &c 4." The front cover features a portrait of singer Lizzie Miles. Also included is a shellac record of Lizzie Miles singing "My Pillow and Me" by Brymn-Smith-Clarence Williams and "Black Man" by Spencer Williams. Unfortunately the record is cracked so it is not playable but it remains a neat companion piece to the sheet music. Lizzie Miles was born Elizabeth Landreaux in New Orleans. She was an Afro-Creole blues singer who had a long career touring the U.S. and performing with acts like Elgars Creole Orchestra, Freddie Keppard, King Oliver's Creole Jazz Band, Paul Barbarin, and Fats Waller. Both pieces appear to be rather uncommon with *OCLC* locating only two holdings of "You're Always Messin' Round With My Man.".…
